Ethical small breeders give a lifetime of aftercare to every pup they produce – their dogs don’t get dumped in rescue.

Our members make every effort to breed happy, healthy, wanted pups.
Their mums are loved and valued and given the life every dog deserves. Nothing like the sad lonely existance in the puppy farms.
Each well bred pup’s first weeks are full of learning with careful socialisation and early housetraining which makes settling in so much less stressy for everyone.
Every new home is set up for success and lifelong friendships can develop. Siblings often meet up for birthday walks and the breeder is always there to help should there be an unexpected bump in the road.
Union members sign a pledge to accept lifelong moral responsibility for every puppy they bring into the world.

We think these brilliant breeders deserve society’s admiration and support – but bad legislation has already driven many of them to give up, while – sadly – those ghastly puppy farming still thrive and rescue is overflowing with their overstocks and returns.

The Union of Good Dog People exists to help responsible, small-scale breeders survive and thrive — and to ensure future legislation protects the gold standard rather than unintentionally driving it out.
